Foods of love such as, liver, organ meats, grass fed meat, eggs, oily fish, raw/ceremonial cacao, nuts, seeds, leafy vegetables, and beetroot, all provide key nutrients!

These nutrients optimise mood, hormone levels, blood circulation, self confidence, sociability, and stamina!

Conversely, alcohol, sugar, heavy carbohydrates and dairy can induce sleepiness, anxiety, digestive fermentation which aren't ideal if you're trying to woo your sweetheart.

Obviously it's the long game that's important here. If you want all that good lovin' feeling all year round then start to focus more on my list and this stew is a great place to start.

Key Facts

  • Nutrient dense
  • Aids balanced mood and hormone levels
  • Increases blood circulation
  • Slow cooker recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 small onions
  • 3 celery sticks
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 small butternut squash
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Small bunch fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons tomato purée
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 heaped tablespoons ceremonial cacao (I get mine from Nourish and Glow Drinks)
  • 600ml bone broth (homemade or I use Borough Broth Company)
  • 900g shin of beef, chopped into large chunks (I get mine from Swaledale Butchers)
  • 2-3 marrow bone rounds (optional but advised)

Preparation

01

Peel & quarter the onions, peel & de-seed the squash. Chop squash & carrots into large pieces.

02

Mix bone broth, tomato puree & tamari in the bowl of a slow cooker or large oven proof casserole dish with a tight fitting lid.

03

Add everything else to the pot & mix.

If using a slow cooker cook on low for 8-10 hours, if cooking in the oven cook at 165°C for 3 hours then leave to sit with the lid on for 45-60 minutes.

04

Pull out the marrow bone pieces & mix the marrow into the sauce if it hasn’t already melted in.

Serve with creamy mashed potato & steamed greens.
