Embracing Consistency: The Key to Lasting Health and Wellbeing

Stasis is not stagnation, it's consolidation.

Every day the health and wellness industry bombards us with messages of constant progress and change, there's a refreshing truth we often overlook: stasis is not stagnation, it's consolidation. Contrary to the prevailing notion that we should always be pushing for forward momentum, there's immense value in embracing consistency and routine in our health habits.

The Science of Stasis:

The notion that consistent repetition trumps singular interventions in the pursuit of long-term health is not just an anecdotal observation; it's backed by science. Research has shown that no single diet, exercise regimen, or lifestyle hack reigns supreme over others. Instead, what matters most is the ability to consistently repeat healthful habits over time.

Embracing Routine:

In my own journey, I've found solace and support in the embrace of routine. Amidst the chaos of daily life, replaying the same tune over and over again has provided me with a sense of stability and resilience. From waking up at the same time every day to winding down with familiar rituals in the evening, consistency has been my anchor.

A Day of Habit: Let me walk you through a typical day for me at the moment:
  • I start my day by waking up at the same time without fail.
  • A pre-workout snack is enjoyed at the same time each morning.
  • Gym or pool time follows, like clockwork.
  • Returning home, I indulge in the same nourishing breakfast.
  • Work is segmented into structured time blocks for maximum productivity.
  • Lunch and dinner consist of a familiar rotation of meals, providing both sustenance and satisfaction.
  • Evenings are reserved for non-tech-related wind-down activities, alternating between an Epsom bath, gentle stretching, or simply pottering around my space.
  • Finally, I retire to bed at a consistent hour, allowing for ample rest and rejuvenation.

The beauty of embracing consistency in health is its simplicity. It's about stepping back, taking a deep breath, and relinquishing the pressure to constantly strive for more. By focusing on what we can routinely repeat that makes us feel good, we reclaim our power and find peace in the present moment.

Remember this - stasis is not a sign of stagnation, but rather a deliberate choice to consolidate and thrive.
